Scottish Jobs Market is Looking Up

The Recruiter Magazine has published that the Scottish job market grew in September for the ninth month in a row, albeit at a slower rate than previous months, but still outperformed the UK as a whole for the sixth month in a row.

The cities that showed the strongest figures for employment were:

  • Dundee for permanent positions
  • Glasgow for temporary positions

Hourly pay across Scotland increased for the 12th consecutive month and Edinburgh showed the biggest increase in wages for both permanent and temporary roles.

The industry sectors that showed the most rapid growth were:

  • IT and computing for permanent positions
  •  Engineering and construction for temporary positions and second quickest for permanent positions
  • Hotel and Catering had the the second-highest increase in temporary positions, although was the only sector to record a fall in full-time jobs available

All in all this is positive news and it seems things are looking up for the future in Scotland.
